The "OIP" (Ounces Is Pounds) AR-15 Rifle is a truly revolutionary take on the AR-15 Platform. Designed, created and manufactured by Bentwood Gunsmithing in conjunction with Battle Arms Development, they created this futuristic rifle and managed to shave all the unnecessary weight of the traditional AR-15. By removing excess material wherever operationally possible, they were able to get the entire platform below 4lbs. The 16" barrel version of this OIP Rifle weighs no more than 3.8lbs and there's even an SBR (Short Barrel Rifle) version, weighing just shy of 3.2lbs.
The real genius of this rifle is that they managed to enhance functional ability, accuracy and comfort in operation over any and all other similar AR-15 platforms. It's important to note a recent industry shift and all focus has been pushing on modularity in tactical gear as well as applications, always keeping operational functionality number one priority while decreasing the burden of weight on the end user. The creation of the OIP Rifle might just be the pinnacle turning point of what an AR rifle can and should become in the near future.
